About Debra Samuel
Debra’s love affair with all things computing began way back in the early 80’s when mainframes were king and personal computers just a twinkle in Bill Gates’ eye. She completed her degree in 1987 in Computing and Operational Research at Leeds Polytechnic (as it was known then) and her first full-time job was as Technical Customer Support for an international computer corporation.
She has worked in Customer Support ever since and started her own business, The Computer Guru, in 2007 to help and support local businesses and individuals. She has seen the changes in technology and the rise of cyber crime from its origins as hackers’ games to the global crime syndicate it is now.
This inspired her to return to university after a 30 year gap to take her Masters in Computer Security in 2016, and she is on a mission to raise
awareness and understanding of the risks of cyber crime to both individuals and small businesses.
She prides herself in being both extremely knowledgeable and very friendly and her numerous testimonials from satisfied clients verify her professional capability and personal approach.
